FUNDS SANCTIONED TO DEVELOP HISTORIC PLACES IN KADAPA DISTRICT

In a move to restore the pristine glory of religious and historic places in Kadapa district, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy sanctioned Rs. 27.70 crore to develop 19 historic and religious places in Kadapa district into tourism spots.
Proposals were sent by the district collector to the Chief Minister Dr. Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy,for forwarding to the Central Government requests for allotment of funds. An amount of Rs. 1.35 crore for the Mukti Ramalingeswara Swamy temple at Proddatur, Rs. 1.61 crore for the Sri Veerabhadreswara Swamy temple at Alladupalle, Rs. 1.70 crore for Sri Veerabrahmendra Swamy temple at Kandimallayapalle, Rs. 1.47 crore for the Pushpagiri temple, Rs. 2.41 crore for the Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Swamy temple at Devunikadapa and Rs. 1.40 crore for Sri Malleswara Swamy temple at Polathala.
In addition, grant of Rs. 1.18 crore was sought for Sri Sangameswara Swamy temple at Animela, Rs. 1.19 crore for Sri Kona Malleswara Swamy temple at Parnapalle, Rs. 1.89 crore for Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple at Vontimitta, Rs. 69 lakh for Sri Soumyanatha Swamy temple at Nandalur, Rs. 84 lakh for Annamacharya temple at Tallapaka, Rs. 1.30 crore for Parasurama temple at Attirala, Rs. 2.18 crore for Sri Neelakantheswara Swamy temple at Gundalakona, Rs. 94.17 lakh for Sri Veerabhadraswamy temple at Rayachoti.
In order to develop the irrigation project areas, Rs. 1.71 crore was sought for Gandikota, Rs. 1.12 crore for Brahmamsagar reservoir under Telugu Ganga project, Rs. 1.53 crore for Chitravathi balancing reservoir and Parnapalle dam, Rs. 1.58 crore for Annamayya project at Badanagadda and Rs. 70.30 lakh for the ancient Siddhavatam fort.
Tenders were called for the first phase works worth Rs. 35 crore to develop Kadapa aerodrome into an airport to facilitate operation of ATR-72 flights. The Government promised sanction of Rs. 135 crore for the second phase works at the aerodrome. Two hundred and eighty five acres of private land was being acquired for the airport and ex gratia was paid for 85 acres of DKT lands. Electricity and drinking water facilities were being augmented with Rs. 2 crore.
