Brahmotsavams will be performed in Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Swamy temple at Devunikadapa from February 6 to 16, temple Inspector Hanmanthaiah said on Friday.

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams will conduct the second Brahmotsavam in the ancient temple, since it took over the temple, he told newsmen.

A 25-member committee constituted for the purpose will conduct the Brahmotsavams with grandeur, he said. Garudotsavam will be performed on February 11, Kalyanotsavam on February 12, Rathotsavam on February 13 and Pushpayagam on February 16.

‘Utsava vahanams’ for ‘Garuda, Kalpavruksha and Gajavahanotsavam were being brought from Tiruchanur temple and Tirumala Narayanavanam, Mr. Hanmanthaiah said. Theppotsavam usually held on the last day was cancelled and the event would be held separately for three days.

The presiding deities would be taken in a procession in 18 vahanam this time as against nine in the past, former temple chairman and Brahmotsavam committee member Akula Krishna Kumar said.

The Krishna Circle to Pathakadapa route would be illuminated and devotional music aired through speakers fitted along the route. Special fire crackers would be burst.

TTD and local artistes would perform cultural programmes from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. daily, he said. Music/bhajan programmes will be held with ‘chekkabhajana’, ‘kolatam’, ‘pandari bhajana’ and such specialised musical instruments.

Thirty palanquin bearers are being ushered for the ‘utsavams’.

Food for devotees :

 

Kadapa Municipal Corporation Employees Association will undertake food for 10,000 devotees on Ratha Saptami day (February 13), he said. Free prasadam and laddu will be given to the devotees.

Former temple chairman A. Hanmanthu, former temple trustees Tirupal Reddy, Jarugu Rajasekhara Reddy, Posina Chinna Subbarayudu, Ramasubba Reddy, Posina Pedda Subbarayudu and Ramana took part.
