As many as 750 artistes rendering ‘goshti ganam’ at Tallapaka as part of 601st Annamacharya jayanti celebrations in Kadapa district on SaturdayKADAPA: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has adopted Tallapaka village in Rajampet mandal with a view to developing it into a pilgrim centre as well as a tourist centre, TTD Chairman D.K. Adikesavulu said on Saturday.

The 601st Annamacharya Jayanti celebrations began with gaiety in front of the 108-ft statue of the saint-poet at Tallapaka, his birth place. Earlier, the TTD chairman and Executive Officer K.V. Ramanachari performed puja at Chennakesavaswamy temple in Tallapaka.

Mr. Ramanachari also assured development of Tallapaka with necessary facilities in place. Annamacharya had penned 32,000 songs on the lord of Seven Hills.

The saint-poet’s songs need to be popularised and his message should be spread across the globe to ensure global peace. A ‘Sapthagiri sankeerthana goshti ganam’ was rendered by 750 artistes who came from Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Karanataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh, he said.

Eminent singer Sobharani rendered seven forms of Annamacharya keerthanas. Mr. Adikesavulu and Mr. Ramanachari released two CDs titled ‘Ekotarshad sathajayanthi geetha malika and ‘Sudarshana raga’.

The descendents of Annamacharya – Anathacharyulu, Vijayaraghavacharyulu, Radhakrishnacharyulu, Harinarayanacharyulu and Nagabhushanacharyulu – were felicitated on the occasion.
